NEWS UPDATE:

Wrestling Competition : Organised by Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Puri on 17 & 18 May 2025 at Barabati Jaga, Harachandi Sahi, Puri. Centenary Celebrations of Puri Branch will be held in November 2025. Exact dates will be informed later. Voluntary services will be provided by the Sangha during Rath Yatra festival. Guru Diksha will be given from 23rd June to 28th June 2025 in the Ashram premises. Spiritual seekers should contact the Ashram Office in advance in this regard. Rath Yatra and Annual Function of Puri branch will be held from 24th June 2025 to 26th June 2025.

Bharat Sevashram Sangha Puri Branch Ashram

The Puri branch of Bharat Sevashram Sangha, located near Swargadwar in Puri, Odisha, is a significant branch centre of spiritual importance and dedicated to serving pilgrims and the local community. Founded in 1926 by Acharya Srimat Swami Pranavanandaji Maharaj as part of the broader network of Bharat Sevashram Sangha. The Puri branch Ashram of the Sangha upholds the organization's mission of selfless service and spiritual upliftment.

Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das had a chance meeting Acharya Srimat Swami Pranavanandaji Maharaj in 1926 in the course of a relief work by the Sangha. A temporary centre was established in Baliput near Sakshigopal, Puri district. Later on, the permanent Ashram was established near Swargadwar, Puri.

First ever Relief Work for the benefit of the pilgrims during Ratha Yatra was undertaken by the Sangha in 1926.

Key Features and Services

The ashram offers a spacious Yatri Niwas that can accommodate over 500 pilgrims. Facilities include 24-hour utility and drinking water, lodging, hygienic vegetarian satvik meals.

Pilgrims receive assistance with darshan at the Jagannath Temple, guidance for performing rituals, and participation in cultural and religious programs that foster a spiritually enriching environment.

Situated on Jagannath Temple to Swargadwar Road, the ashram is approximately 3 kilometres from the Puri railway station, making it easily accessible for pilgrims.

The branch is overseen by Swami Samidhanandaji Maharaj, who serves as the secretary, ensuring the smooth operation of the ashram's activities.

Acharya Srimat Swami Pranavanandaji Maharaj (1896–1941) was a towering spiritual leader, visionary reformer, and the founder of Bharat Sevashram Sangha, an organization devoted to selfless service and spiritual awakening. Revered as a Yugacharya (teacher of the age), he dedicated his life to both personal spiritual realization and the upliftment of society, particularly the poor and the oppressed.

BHARAT SEVASHRAM SANGHA APPRECIATION

A road “Swami Pranavananda Marg” near Gourbat Sahi in Puri has been named after Acharya Srimat Swami Pranavanadaji Maharaj honouring his contributions in June 1995 commemorating the Centenary Celebration of Guruji’s advent anniversary (1896 – 1995).

The Road along with the erected “Yugacharya Swami Pranavananda Centenary Gate” was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Odisha, Hon’ble Shri Janaki Ballabh Pattanaik.

Monks are the members of the Sangha. Devotees, disciples and well-wishers of the Sangha become associated with the Ashram. You can take Guru Diksha, can donate regularly or periodically, can take part in various voluntary and humanitarian services, can take part in daily Puja, Arati, Bhaja, Kirtan and other Ashram works.

You can make donation in the form of Cheque / Demand Draft / Online etc for various activities of the Ashram.

Yes, Ashram can assist you in case you do not have your known or ancestral priest / panda.

We provide accommodation to the pilgrims on First Come First Serve basis.

Yes, you can receive Guru Diksha here during Rath Yatra festival when our Swamijis are present during the Rath Yatra. Otherwise, you can contact your nearest branch of the Sangha. They will guide you.

Yes, you can become a volunteer. Our Ashram renders voluntary services during Rath Yatra festival every year. Please stay in contact with the Secretary Swamiji of this Ashram for detailed information.
